A seat on the Adams Electric Cooperative Board of Directors is open to members of Zone 7, which includes Franklin County townships of Greene, Letterkenny, Lurgan, Shippensburg, Southampton, and St. Thomas; Cumberland County townships of Hopewell and Upper Mifflin, and the township of Toboyne, Perry County. Interested Zone 7 members must have an account in good standing and their name must appear on the electricity bill.
Up until April 19, and for the previous 32 years, your Zone 7 representative to the board of directors has been Jay Grove of Shippensburg. With Jay’s recent resignation, due to moving out of his current director zone, the board now must appoint a new director to serve out Mr. Grove’s unexpired term.
The deadline for a Zone 7 member to apply for the open director’s seat is July 1, 2024. Director candidate packet requests should be directed to the communications department of the co-op by calling 1-800-726-2324. Current directors will then review the applications to decide on the new director, whose term will then expire at the annual meeting of the cooperative in 2025.
The candidate packet includes a copy of the co-op’s Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation. Also included is a director nomination petition requiring 15 member signatures, a candidate profile, sworn-to statements (which require Notary signature and seal), background check authorization, and acknowledgement of two board policies (code of ethics and conflict of interest).
Board members do receive a small per diem because there is a significant time commitment requested of all directors, as well as training, occasional travel, and night or weekend events. Interested members can learn more about director duties.
