Current forecasts are indicating temperatures across our service territory to be the lowest so far this winter beginning this weekend and lasting through the next week. These temperatures will cause increased demand for electricity on the regional power grid.
Adams Electric urges members to follow the U-Shift program and conserve energy by shifting their thermostats or electricity use. Members participating in the U-Shift, U-$ave water heater or off-peak subpanel programs should anticipate seeing interruption periods throughout the week, Monday-Friday. Specific U-Shift time periods are posted to the cooperative's Facebook page.
The National Weather Service advises the following safety tips for cold weather:
- Wear layers of loose-fitting, lightweight, warm clothing.
- Wear a hat. Try to stay dry and out of the wind.
- Cover your mouth to protect your lungs from extreme cold.
- Mittens, snug at the wrist, are better than gloves.
- Let hot and cold water trickle or drip at night from a faucet to keep pipes from freezing.
- Bring pets inside.
Adams Electric is prepared to respond to any power interruptions the winter weather may cause. Call 1-800-726-2324 to report any interruptions.
