Where We Serve
Adams Electric serves 33,000 homes, farms and businesses in south-central Pennsylvania (areas in green). The cooperative has offices in Gettysburg, Shippensburg and York. Adams Electric serves members in the municipalities listed below.
Adams Electric is intermingled with other investor-owned utilities (mainly Met-Ed and Penelec) in the distribution of electricity in Adams, and parts of lower Cumberland, upper Franklin and western and southern York counties. There are also several accounts in Perry County. In Pennsylvania, a person’s electric distribution utility is determined by where he or she decides to reside or run a business.New houses and businesses are served by the nearest utility, be that Adams Electric or a neighboring investor-owned utility. Because of this, the co-op can end up serving one side of a street or part of a housing development while Met-Ed or Penelec can serve on the other side of the street or the rest of a housing development.
