Feathers earns management certificate

Michael “Mike” Feathers of New Oxford recently completed the Robert I. Kabat Management Internship Program (MIP) offered by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. The six-week series of workshops guides participants through all facets of the electric utility industry, including the many changes occurring around the nation.

Feathers has served as operations coordinator at Adams Electric Cooperative since 2016. He joined the cooperative in 1996 as a second-year apprentice and then advanced to journeyman lineman in 1999. He became a line serviceman in 2009 and was named as a line superintendent for Adams Electric in 2012. Feathers is the eighth employee from Adams Electric to complete the MIP program.

To finish the program, Feathers created a project and gave a presentation based on the analysis of a current Adams Electric program.  MIP participants are educated in new, innovative management techniques while applying unique principles that govern the operations of electric cooperatives. The program helps the co-op analyze other business ventures it may want to enter as well as enhancing the core organization. Participants learn to focus on member value as part of day-to-day decision making.
